Preparations for the big day

Since weeks we looked forward to the barbecue, the first event of the Ummah. As soon as the weather forecast gave us green light, we went the day before the event on shopping tour to buy the last things we needed.

We didn’t think that this would take that much time. We didn’t leave out even the smallest details. For example we stood ten minutes in front of the Ketchup and Mayonnaise storage rack discussing about the different types and their halality :-)  (Conclusion: You buy these things better at the Turkish shop)

Sunday the shining morning sun promised us a beautiful day. Alhamdulillah we could set up our barbecue place. To show our brothers and sisters the way we hung up balloons all along the way.

Our brothers of the Friday’s Club took care of setting up our learning circuit. They placed the posts in the park: sometimes on a small hill sometimes under trees or near the small lake. So our sisters and brothers saw the whole Irchel Park.

Start of the Barbecue

After 12 o’clock, people started to come to the barbecue place. They came from all parts of Switzerland, mashaAllah, everyone with the aim to spend a beautiful afternoon with Muslim brothers and sisters.

Everyone received a date as welcome gift according to the Sunnah, they placed their food in the shadow and then opened their parasols put down their bath towels to sit on the big green field. There was enough time to get to know one another and to chat witch friends, before the learning circuit got started.

Learning Circuit and Prayer

The learning consisted of 10 posts: 5 posts with questions and 5 posts with games. The questions were about Ramadan, so the brothers and sisters could show how fit they were for Ramadan.

With their results, the participators came more or less exhausted back to the barbecue place.

One by one the 13 groups reached the finish line. When everyone was back again, brother Abdelraouf called to prayer. Praying together in the nature was a beautiful feeling, Alhamdulillah.

Lunch

After prayer some of the brothers took care of the barbecue and soon you could smell delicious meat.

Winners of the leraning circuit

In the meantime we evaluated the scores of the learning circuit and could move on to the award ceremony. The three best teams received a small gift. The happy winners were some of the younger brothers, mashaAllah.

But of course it was all about being part of it, so everyone received some chocolate.

Sport

After the big meal we needed a break – with a lot of candies and cakes! Spontaneously we had the idea to organize a small sport tournament. In a short time we had a football and a volleyball field.

End of the event

To always remember this beautiful day we took some group pictures and brother Rahman from Friday’s Club thanked the brothers and sisters for coming.

At 7 p.m. we started to clean up the place. Thanks to a lot of helpful people this was done within minutes, may Allah bless you.
